Karina ESP, the pseudonym of Chris Gowers of London, uk, began life in 1998 after several home-recordings of improvised ambient-guitar experiments were collated to form what would become the debut album “Summer”. The results, as well as on the follow-up album “Broken Tree”, were slowly evolving dream-like guitar ambience, minimal floating space-folk tracks & blissed-out feedback, and were linked at the time to both Circle Brothers and a more ‘out-there’ Flying Saucer Attack.

Subsequent sonic excursions into melancholic drones and ‘inner-space’-rock has led the sound to more introspective territories, as heard on “ExperimentalSpaceProject” and “Radius of Sound”.

After numerous long-players and appearances on various compilations and split 7”s, a Karina ESP recordings has been released by morc. It's a limited split 10” with Circle Brothers, which saw both bands mailing unfinished tracks to each other to see what came back. Or, if you like, a post-rock post collaboration. The resulting mixture of space-pop and floating guitar-drifts recalled touches of The Azusa Plane and Windy & Carl, and brought together two allies in the world of bedroom guitar ambient.

by the time this record was sold out, the compilation album “Extra-Sensory Projections” had seen daylight. it gathers rare and unreleased tracks from the past five years and varies from ‘acid folk’ to dark alien drones and beyond.

the past few yars, chris has been working on his project Signals, with members of Rothko and Cheap Machines, as well as doing scarce appearances as Karina ESP. one of them- the first karina esp solo show actually- was preceded by a long recording session with likeminded artists circle bros and drekka, resulting in the 'hibernation' ep.
